Entries are coming in for a wonderful range of exhibitions. A more detailed list will feature soon. The events for 2009 so far include:
Above - Below & Beyond - Cuppit's Winery
Be it still, moving or frozen, from above or below these three local photographers have captured water and all its beauty in all its form. Annette, Ollie and Dom are three experienced award wining local photographers. In this exhibition, “Above-Below & Beyond” this trio of photographers explore the relationships that exist between “Water and the Coast” and “Water and Animals”.
Ollie and Annette have been focusing on the “Above” regularly photographing the the beaches and rock platforms between Bendalong and Durras. Dom’s passion lies below, whether it be below the surface or 60 degrees south. Through there work they have captured the mood and movement of water as it interacts with the coastline, and the wonder of the creatures that exist below the surface and in Antarctica.
The images celebrate locations that not many of us have the chance to experience first hand. The photographers are happy to discuss their work and will be at the exhibition most days. If you want to be sure to catch them and
discuss their work then contact Ollie on 44557780 to confirm a time.

Kylie's passion for drawing is evident in a series of new works based on trees and for the artist a necessary response to the devastating Victorian bushfires. verse versus… Anna Glynn’s video art work ‘verse versus…’ was created as a response to a story in a children’s book in the collection of the Historic Houses Trust property at Nowra – Meroogal. Edward Lear’s poem ‘The New Vestments’, inspired Glynn to spend time at Meroogal photographing, filming and sound recording to create this strange tale. This animated film features a bewildered character and his many misadventures throughout the still rooms of this echoing house. The soundtrack includes a chorus of Shoalhaven women’s voices set against the ticking of the antique hallway clock.

This is definitely the 'A' list event of the festival for those who love their life sunny side up!!!
Bluestone Junction. With a sound straight off the set of O, Brother Where Art Thou this is brand new bluegrass the old fashioned way: stellar harmonies, fine musicianship and foot-stomping rhythms – all acoustic and around a single mic.
Special guest is Jonno Zilber. Dressed in black with slicked up hair, this multi award-winning purveyor of sinister swing and blues was one of the hits at the recent National Folk Festival.’ $27/$17 conc
An afterglow emerges at the onset of darkness, a luminousness and opalescence. There are individuals on this earth that have attained their own afterglow, a polished radiance, an energy and style that attracts people, like an insect to light.
Charms Baltis & Benjamin Neich are the creative force behind Australian jewellery label Afterglow. Their designs are a hand-made offering of urban adornment with just the right amount of glamour and rock & roll.
Charms has been designing jewellery for 7 years, her knowledge and respect for the engineering of gold smithing has melded beautifully with a love for fashion and the decorative arts. She has a magical ability to blend strength and delicacy, simplicity and frivolity, fantasy and wearability. Her designs have been seen in US films with Harrison Ford, Kevin Bacon and Garett Hedlund and worn by celebrities such as Erin Wasson and Jess Mauboy.
Benjamin is a hip hop, sport loving, man's man who brings street cred and an element of simplicity into the label. He has introduced Afterglows first line of men's jewellery that has melded into some of the more androgynous pieces in their first collection Born to Fly.
Born to Fly 09/10 is a clean mix of silver, buffalo horn & pearl shell delicately hand carved into delicious creatures of flight. Eagles, hummingbirds and butterflies are suspended on chain in mid journey or dripping with fine silver and black chain, charms and pearls.
The collection was inspired by long road trips along the South Coast of Australia, bright blue skies and dark, dreamy silhouettes of birds soaring above. Fantasies of the freedom of feathers and flight have been represented by flying horses, sparkling zirconias and plenty of luscious winged creatures.

Karen Sharpe is a south coast artist who enjoys integrating the various mediums of painting, printmaking and mixed media drawings. She has studied at Nowra TAFE for the last five years with high commendations.

The art of raku firing began its journey in 16th Century Japan in pottery produced for Zen Buddhist tea ceremonies. It symbolised contentment, pleasure and enlightenment. In the West it has come to mean being happy with a result obtained in a moment of time. Beautiful colours, each one different, emerge from the flames and smoke.
