THE Ulladulla Escape artFEST kicked off with a bang last Friday with a huge crowd gathering on the edge of Ulladulla Harbour for the inaugural Habour Beats drum jam.

Students from the Ulladulla Primary School percussion ensemble and the all-women drum group PAMOJA took centre stage, with a bonfire on the beach and a light show courtesy of the Ulladulla Royal Volunteer Coastal Patrol adding to the atmosphere.

Celebrations continued into the night with many people taking the opportunity to visit local galleries, attend the opening of the Escape Art Film Festival at Ulladulla's Arcadia Twin Cinemas or to enjoy live entertainment at Ulladulla's Boardwalk Café.

The Escape artFEST was officially launched at Kingstudio on Saturday afternoon, with events over the weekend - including various exhibition openings and the 'On Stage 07' production at Milton Theatre - attracting strong crowds.
