She craved the freedom , the sun rising on the water, the waves to surf. From the time she began bodyboarding at 11 years of age, it became clear to her that the ocean would provide the focus in her life. In her teens she began planning to surf around the world. She was particularly attracted to Australia where she met her future husband, also a surfer. Together they have travelled to many different surfing destinations including South Africa, Tahiti, Canary Islands, Brazil, Portugal and Indonesia. Fernanda not only enjoyed the surfing but also she began to sketch waves and seascapes. Her love for the ocean is now reflected in her paintings and her aim is to bring to canvas perspectives of the sea that only a surfer could explain. Painting surf and seascapes is like the realisation of the dream, a logical extension for the passion of the sea. Fernanda likes to use mixed media such as acrylics, oils and impasto to create texture and movement. Fernanda can be commissioned to create a work of art that brings the sea into your surrounds. A percentage from the sale of any paintings will be donated to the A.C.T.S food bank program run by Highway Christian Church aiming to supply basic needs to financially challenged individuals in the community. Although these are not the works that will be in the Pilgrims exhibition, they show Fernanda's style and passion for the movement of sea waters.
