Artist profile - Patricia Wright
I
am a local artist and fine arts student at the Nowra campus.
I
have a long history with art, as I studied dress~ design at East
Sydney Tech in the late 80’s and worked in this industry for a
number of years.
When
my children were little I kept my hands on a few creative ventures.
One of these was a mixed children’s market stall where I sold a
range of clothing, including fancy dress costumes; cloth dolls, and
accessories. Some of my stock was bought by a shop in Berry.
I
commenced the Certificate 11 in fine arts at TAFE in 2004 and at the
completion of this course I was awarded with ‘Outstanding
Achievement in the Arts’ by the Shoalhaven Arts Board.
I am
currently in the final year of Certificate IV Fine Arts.
I
have exhibited work mainly in group exhibitions and art
competitions. These include:
- TAFE/student exhibitions (in 2007 I was awarded ‘Highly commended’
for an oil stick drawing).
- an exhibition held by The Shoalhaven Schizophrenia Society in 2006
- ‘The Meroogal Women’s Art Prize’ in 2007
- ‘The Little Archie Portrait Prize’, in which I was the winner in
the people’s choice prize, for my self- portrait ‘Paola’.(2008)
- In 2004 I was involved in designing a book cover for ‘The Bay and
Basin Writers Group’.
Also in 2004 I designed the sleeve for a Teacher’s resource computer
disc for Sanctuary Point Public School.
In 2007 I joined ‘The Bay and Basin Arts Inc.’ and exhibited work in
the summer exhibition and in the See Change Winter Arts Festival.
